Rauw Alejandro

Despacito by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi The song, as well as Daddy Yankee became the song most streamed at the time in less than six months. The single a mix of reggaeton, pop and rock not only brought renewed interest to reggaeton, but also drew interest to Latin music generally. In 2015 there were only two mostly Spanish-language songs on Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. At the peak of Despacito's success in 2017, 19 tracks primarily composed in Spanish reached the top 100. The number grew to 41 by 2020. After Justin Bieber's remix in two languages of Despacito (2017) popular artists soon began collaborating with reggaeton performers including Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna with Maluma in Medellin (2019). A few performers of reggaeton lamented the trend towards popular music by 2020. But a newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the development and growth of reggaeton. He used elements from other styles and electronic music.
